[Action 1]

[It's a beautiful Saturday morning, isn't it? And, being a Saturday, it is perhaps surprising to find an elementary school student on school grounds, having apparently acquired a pail of paint and brush. The boy has taken it upon himself, as his duty in fact, to add some color to the school on this day off ( Read more... )

Your friends seem nice.

[Nyarlathotep, who has been eavesdropping on this conversation for a while, approaches Lucifer. The boy would notice that he is now sporting his black, pinstripe suit and long, red scarf back from his world. To fulfill Jun's wish for a "cool dad", a change of appearance was in order. The man now exudes a type of confidence that seems unwavering to any force in the world.

He places his hands in his pockets as he looks down at Lucifer, smiling.]

[Lucifer just looks in Nyarlathotep's direction for a moment, quietly. He has no clue if the suit had been regained previously and Nyarlathotep had simply chosen not to wear it, or if it had been what was most recently regained. Lucifer assumes the latter; it would make sense considering how trivial his own regain had been.]

They're nicer than anyone should really be.

They're a single-minded lot. No matter what you say, you won't be able to change their dim-witted amiability.

[Although, Nyarlathotep doesn't quite mind this. As boring as Lucifer would find it, Nyarlathotep in contrast expressed to the boy nothing but amusement. In fact, having drones around is advantageous to him. Drones make up at least half or more of the citizens in Mayfield. Their single-minded wish to continue their repetitive lives gives him a powerful weapon. It's still being crafted at the moment, but soon...]

Perhaps they are.

And yet, there is a fault in every single minded being. A being that embodies only a one might, someday, come to embody a two.

[But even know Lucifer is seeing that attempt to breed anything that isn't in the drones programming might be futile. They're beyond will-less, mindless even, to him. Even the Manikins in the Vortex World had some survival instinct, some desire to live.

This was simply pathetic.]

If it happens, do give me a call. It may be worth observing for the both of us when a "spark" triggers such a change.

I most certainly will.

[He tries to keep his irritation and anger under control. If there were someplace else, any place else, he could write Nyarlathotep off as a nuisance. No. That wasn't quite true. The Crawling Chaos was most certainly dangerous and, while back in their own worlds Nyarlathotep might struggle to hurt him personally, there was no denying he could still be an incredible harm to his plans. But his power would at least give Lucifer...something. He hates to call it comfort, but that's what he supposes it is.

But here, where he was trapped in his child incarnations' body with all the weaknesses that entailed? Dealing with Nyarlathotep was unbearable, and finding something, however small, that could prove annoying to the eldritch servant would be some kind of victory to Lucifer.

Pettiness wasn't unfamiliar to Lucifer, but it was odd even for him to feed it this much.]

[Both Lucifer and Nyarlathotep have observed humans through different lenses. They've watched each other long enough to be able to notice and pick up subtle signals they send each other. Nyarlathotep sees just how Lucifer is trying to hide his emotions. As a dark god who sneers at humans for suppressing themselves, it couldn't give him more joy than to see Lucifer himself doing the same thing. In all the other worlds, indeed, Nyarlathotep is a little more than a nuisance. But here, in his eyes, Lucifer is the inferior one. He can treat Lucifer, the highest demon in the hierarchy of Hell and the Chaos alignment, as an average human.

He narrows his eyes as he looks down at Lucifer, sending him a condescending gaze. Nyarlathotep would urge Lucifer to act out on his rage... for all the good that'll do him here. Letting out a soft, but brief chuckle, Nyarlathotep carries the conversation on.]

The colors of your eyes changed. Was that a gift from the town?

A "gift" implies it was something I did not have that was freely given, not something it stole and then returned.

Was the suit yours?

Yes. I had to make some adjustments to this body for my "son's" wish. The man couldn't have made himself look more harmless than he did then. And that's not the image an "ideal dad" should have.

Be a little more positive about this, Lucifer. Smile and rejoice in the fact that you've reclaimed a small piece of home.

I'm quite happy with it being returned, and what that signifies.

[It's small, but it is a piece of him, and that shows what was stripped is not lost forever.

He'll regain what is his. It's only a matter of time, and patience is something the Lord of Hell possesses. He needs but wait, and once he has his power returned?

He'll repay you a hundredfold for the humiliation of that slap you gave him, Nyarlathotep.]

And by the way? The clothes aren't the only trinket that came in the mail.

[Perhaps Nyarlathotep will show Lucifer... if only to demonstrate both his clear advantage and just how much more this world favors the likes of him.]

[Lucifer just narrows his eyes at Nyarlathotep, daring him to do such. To show him what else he might have. He's hardly going to ask in words. That would be too polite. Would make him seem desperate to know. Would show his curiosity at what else the Crawling Chaos might have regained.]

[Nyarlathotep pulls his right hand out of his pocket and raises it closer to his temple. He bends his pinky and ring fingers and stretches out his other three fingers, forming the shape of a gun. The barrel of the gun is just placed in front of his temple and...]

Persona.

[It fires. Waves of blue light surrounds Nyarlathotep and standing over his human form is the image of a creature twice as tall as he is. It's a black, abominable creature with a humanoid shape save the mass of writhing tentacles around its hands and face. It opens its three mouths on its face and arms and lets out an unearthly shriek. Nyarlathotep's Moon Howler form has been returned to him as a Personae.]

[Lucifer simply stares at the creature. not recoiling in terror at the sight of it or the shriek it emits. Perhaps he is only human at the moment, but such horrors were commonplace in what he would have to deal with back in the worlds he would inhabit and compete with YHWH for.

For a moment, Lucifer is simply blank-faced. And then he smiles.]

Oh. This is fantastic news.

As glad as I am seeing you finally get into the spirit of things, just what helped put that smile on your face?
