[Waking in a human bed, and in what was clearly a child's room, was among the list of things Lucifer least expected. The world he had least been in, as he had left it, had been torn apart. Had been painted over new as it changed from the world of man to a blank slate of sorts: the Vortex world. The idea that he should be in a household that was

So when random Mayfield child number five thousand and three wanders by threatening the sky, it grabs his attention.]
Who are you talking to?
Reply
Oh. Just myself.
This place reminds me of someone.

[Honestly, everyone keeps getting it wrong about this place.]
Reply
No? Then who did?

[It's indeed a prison, but this...]
I assure you, I'm real.

[He stares at Lucifer for a moment, considering whether he might be real or not. Brother did collect many strange things, why not a town of people?]
Well, if you are sure, that's good for you.
Reply
Why would he do that?
Oh. I'm Louis. Louis Cyphre. And you?
Reply
There was a disagreement over the rules. [Also because Mephisto is a jerkface.] Hmm? I am Amaimon.
Reply
[Which is kind of a big reason he ended up falling from grace.]
I am Louis. Louis Cyphre. It's nice to meet you, Mr. Amaimon.
[Demon. Definitely a demon, or at least not human.]

Even when you play by them. I never killed any of his little humans, I never broke his school. It was not I who set the forest on fire. I was not the one who broke the rules!
[He had been deadpan and blank of expression up until then, but recalling how the fight back home had ended -- with his brother throwing him away so easily! How dare he! -- gets a rise out of him. There's a brief flash of anger as he recounts it and he ends up yanking the dog that had been with him about when he gestures with the hand holding the leash. It's not enough to kill the dog, thankfully, but it does make the poor beast stagger.
But the anger passes quickly and all returns to the same old monotone immediately after.]
But nothing can be done about that. [A sigh.] Oh well. [The boy gets a blink from him after that, the first one since they began talking.] Is it nice to meet me?
[People keep saying that. It's hard to believe they mean it.]

But still, that little flash of anger? Lets him know you have hate in you. And he can work with hate, Amaimon.]
Is that so? Can nothing be done about it, or only just for now?
Indeed, it is.
Reply
For now. There is no pressing need to escape at this time. [Amaimon's head tilts a little to one side.] Oh. Is that a truth, or is it only a greeting?
Reply
[After all, he needs time to figure out the rules and laws of this place. To see how the battle is to be fought here.]
It is a truth. I only speak such.
[Which is....well, a lie. But he's being honest right now.]
Reply
[He leans over to get a closer look at the child, his eyebrows raised.]
Perhaps that was a truth, but everyone lies.
[A demon can't believe that, that anyone can truly be honest all the time.]
Reply
Or do you just believe them too?
[It's a ridiculous question. Lucifer already knows the answer, but he might as well play a little bit.]
