WEEK FIVE

“It’ll be ok. Let it out.”

Damni’s retching sounds could be heard, bouncing off of the bathroom stalls. Kaufi held her twin sisters hair in her hand, as Benji rubbed her back.

“Did you eat something bad?” Lalana asked sitting on the sink counter outside of the stall with Kamala, and Sharleen.

They were having their monthly “Girls Night Out” at Club Fire, when Damni started feeling sick.

“No.” Damni lifted her head a little.

“Well, maybe you’re pregnant.” Sharleen  giggled.

Kaufi dropped Damni’s hair, Benji stopped rubbing her back, Kamala and Lalana looked at each other. Damni sat completely up.

“That would be funny right?” Sharleen asked.

Lalana jumped down off of the counter and opened the bathroom stall, followed closely by Kamala. How all of them managed to forget that Damni was a possible surrogate for Khun and Wooyoung, none of them could understand, but they quickly scooped Damni up and rushed her out of the club bathroom.

~*~*~*~*

“What is that?” Damni asked as the sound hit her and her five sister’s ears.

They had pushed their way out of the club and immediately took Damni to see her OB/Gyn. Dr. Ja had performed the procedure on Damni only 4 weeks ago.

“That’s the heartbeat.”

“Get out.”

“Congratulations, Damni! Khun and Wooyoung will be happy to hear the news.” She smiled.

Damni was stunned. Sure she had agreed to be a surrogate for her baby brother and Wooyoung, but she definitely thought she wasn’t going to get pregnant. Benji had been trying for years now and still hadn’t succeeded. Kamala wasn’t having any luck either, so she thought that she would have the same luck. Dr. Ja pushed a button on the ultra sound machine and a few seconds later, out popped a picture.

“This is yours.” She handed her the picture and then left the room.

Damni stared at it.

“Oh my god!!!!”

Damni jumped. Her sisters were freaking out on the other side of her bed.

“You’re pregnant!!!” Benji yelled, tears in her eyes.

She climbed on the bed and hugged her. The rest of her sisters followed suit.

“Get off of me! You’re gonna squish me!!”

“Oh, right. Everyone off!” Benji yelled

They all pled off of the bed and hovered over her.

“How do you feel?” Kaufi asked, rubbing her sister’s hair.

“Yeah are you excited?” Kamala.

“Let’s see the picture.” Lalana said.

Damni thrust the picture into her hands, in hopes that they would stop asking her questions. She wasn’t exactly happy. There was something growing inside of her and she didn’t want it. She was mentally beating herself up for agreeing, in the first place. They all huddled around Lalana, and stared at the picture.

“What are we looking at?” asked Sharleen.

“The baby. Duh!”

“Yeah but where is it?” asked Benji.

“It’s right here. No that’s a smudge. Here it is…I think.”

Kaufi looked at her sister, and then went to her side. She could tell that something was bothering her.

“Hey. You’re ok right?”

Damni bit her nail, and then smiled.

“Yeah I’m fine. We should call Khun and Wooyoung.”

“Oh my god, I forgot about them.” Kamala belted.

She pulled out her phone and hit Khun’s number on speed dial.

“Wait, what time is it there?” Benji asked.

“They’re 2 hours ahead of us.” Kaufi checked her watch. “And it’s 12, now. Maybe we should wait.”

“No. Call.” Damni said.

Anything to take the attention off of her. Kamala hit the “Call” button and waited as the phone on the other end rang.

~*~*~*~*~*

“Don’t answer it.” Wooyoung whispered as he kissed a trail down Khun’s stomach.

Khun never had a problem following rules. He closed his eyes as Wooyoung kissed further and further down. The phone rang again and something struck Khun.

“Wait.” He began. “What if it’s Damni. She might be pregnant.”

“Can you get pregnant in 5 weeks?” Wooyoung asked.

“Oh my god.” Khun pushed him off and grabbed the phone.

“It’s about time!”

“Kamala? Do you know what time it is? I mean we were kind of busy.”

“Oh shut up! You can have sex later.”

Khun rolled his eyes.

“What’s up.”

“Hold on.”

Wooyoung laid on his back, next Khun, slowly breathing out air.

“Is it important?” he asked, clearly irritated.

Khun hit him.

“Sit up.”

Khun pushed the speaker phone button, as Wooyoung sat up and scooted next to him.

“Hello?”

“Damni? What’s going on?”

“Well…”

“Spit it out!!” Wooyoung yelled.

“We’re Pregnant!!”

“What?”

“I’m at the OB/Gyn right now. I’m five weeks.”

“Damni, I swear to god, if this is one of ur sick jokes, like when you used to hang me off the balcony, it’s really not funny!!!”

“She’s serious!!!” Kaufi yelled in the background.

“OH MY GOD!!!!!!!”

Khun and Wooyoung started to jump on their bed.

“We’re gonna be dads!!!”

WEEK SIX

Wooyoung placed Damni’s luggage down by the door. Unfortunately he was the only one who could get off from work to greet her.

“This place is bananas.” Damni yelled, giving herself a tour of the house.

Wooyoung smiled.

“Khun said the same thing, when we first bought it.”

Damni laughed.

“Feed me!” she yelled from the kitchen.

At that point Wooyoung realized just how alike she and Khun were.

“What do you want?” he asked entering the room.

She sat down at the kitchen island.

“Hmmm. Grilled Cheese.” She smiled.

“Ok.”

“I’m glad we’re not awkward.” Damni said, as Wooyoung grabbed the things he needed.

“What?”

“We’re not awkward. I’m glad.”

“Why would we be awkward?”

“Well, I am carrying you child.”

“Oh. You know, I’ve never thought of it like that. I mean I am grateful for you, but I’ve always seen it as Khun’s and my baby.”

“Well, that’s perfect.” She smiled. “But I have to say, I’m a little worried about Khun.”

“So am I.” said Wooyoung as he flipped her sandwich. “He’s gonna start to feel left out.”

“Exactly. We have to make sure he doesn’t.”

“Yeah. But what about you?”

Wooyoung passed her , her sandwich.

“How are you handling everything? Khun doesn’t have to know, but I know you didn’t want to do this.”

She looked at him.

“How did you know?”

Wooyoung sat down next to her.

“I’ve always been good at reading people, I guess.”

“I’m sorry.”

“Don’t be. Even though you didn’t want to, you still went through with it.”

“God, I’m such an awful sister. I didn’t actually think I would get pregnant.” She said tearing off a piece of her sandwich. “But, I mean, now that I am I see it as a way to make you two happy. So I’m happy.” She smiled.

“Where is she?!?!?”

Damni and Wooyoung turned as they heard the front door close and Khun yell.

“We’re in here!” Damni yelled.

Khun ran into the kitchen and hugged his sister.

“How are you?! How’s the baby? What are you eating?!?!?!?!?”

“Oh my god, back up!! I’m fine, the baby is fine and I am eating a grill cheese that your wonderful husband made for me!”

Khun looked at Wooyoung, who just smiled.

“A grill cheese?”

“What?”

“Oh come one Khunnie. Stop being a buttmunch! Show me where I’ll be staying.”

WEEK  FOURTEEN

“Did you know that as we speak the baby is starting to produce hormones?” Khun asked, holding his baby book “And that if it’s a boy his prostate is starting to develop, but if it’s a girl her ovaries are moving from her abdomen to her pelvis?”

Wooyoung and Damni stared at him, from the floor, they were playing gostop. Khun was starting to become unbearable and Damni hadn’t even entered her second trimester yet. She turned back around and slammed one of her card down.

“I just thought you guys would be interested.” Khun closed his book and got up from the couch.

What Damni and Wooyoung were afraid of was happening. Khun was feeling left out and every chance he got he tried to fill them in on every single ounce of information he had learned. Because realistically that was all he could do. He couldn’t house the baby like Damni or contribute the way Wooyoung had. He could only research and the fact that it was falling on deaf ears made him feel even more useless.

“Aren’t you gonna play?” Damni asked.

Wooyoung got up from the floor.

“Give me a sec.”

He followed behind Khun into the kitchen.

“Hey.”

Khun, who was sitting at the table, looked up at him.

“Hi.”

“What’s up?”

“Nothing.”

Wooyoung just waited.

“Can I ask you something?”

“Ok.”

Wooyoung sat down at their table.

“Am I being selfish?”

“Why would you think that?”

“Because I’m not happy. I mean, I should be. We’re having a baby, but I don’t feel like WE’RE having anything. I feel like You and Damni are having a baby and I’m the third wheel, just tagging along for the ride.”

“Khunnie.”

“I know, but that’s how I feel. You guys have even gotten closer. Why aren’t I happy?”

“I’m sorry Khun.”

Khun rubbed his head and then his eyes.

“It’s not your fault. I think I just need to be alone. I’m gonna head upstairs.”

Khun got up from his seat and exited the kitchen.
