1) What is your opinion of this character? If you like, explain why you like him/her. Because Mark Pellegrino plays hi--err, I MEAN. Bishop is the possessive father/lover/mentor that will go to any means to protect his family -- sometimes even from themselves, and sometimes even if he dislikes the particular person he's protecting. He's labeled as one of the villains in the series, but... I just don't see that. At all. He has the same kind of motives a normal person does, but his nature gives him the ability to not really care about the means as long as he reaches a pleasant end. He has a gentle nature, only using force when absolutely necessary, and even when he's playing warm, he's got this air of coldness that I just absolutely adore. He can be lovey and tender, or he can be sharp and cruel, but mostly he's just calculating, swift, clever.
2) Is he/she important to the general plot? Very! So far, he's sort of the puppet master pulling the strings. Certain times he does end up toppling over a whole trail of dominoes.
3) Can you relate to this character at all? Does he/she grip you emotionally? Oddly enough, I can. I've noticed that we tend to have the same mental constraints and hangups -- the whole "Well, if I want this, then I need to do [insert unspeakably horrific act here] to get it," sort of thing. He's subtly manipulative of the people around him, and I find myself doing the same sort of thing: consciously choosing things I'll say, tone of voice, expressions, to predict how someone reacts to it and sort of push them into an emotional state of mind that suits me best.
However, I'm not quite so big on family. 8|
4) How much do you like the fandom that this character comes from? This fandom? Has broken all my other fandoms. Being Human is officially my favourite.
5) Do you ship this character with any other character? Or, are you particularly intrigued by his/her relationship with any other character(s)? (romance-wise or platonic) I ship this character with everyone and everything! Bishop/Aidan is the obvious one, along with Bishop/Josh (also all three of them together) and Bishop/Sally (also all four of them together). Bishop/Marcus, Bishop/Jane, Bishop/Titus Welliver as the leader of a pack of werewolves (I AM WORKING ON WRITING THIS, I CAN'T EVEN). Basically, if Bishop is one-half (or one-third or one-fourth) of the pairing, I can't help but love it.
6) Is there anything about the character you would change? Actually? No, not really. To me, he is all that is good and beautiful in this world.
7) If you were in the fandom with this character or knew this character in real life, how would you see yourself interacting with him/her? Would you get along well? Fall in love with him/her? Dislike? Have a friendly rivalry? I would hop into fandom, become a nurse, find him, and touch him. All the time. Without end. Until he realized he should love the ever-loving hell out of me, or until I'd grafted onto his skin.
8) Does this character make the cut as one of your all time favorites (if you like) or least favorites? Oh God yes! I love all of Mark Pellegrino's characters, but Bishop holds a special sort of fascination for me. It's very difficult for me to have a solid "favourite" but this vampire likes to hop in and out of the #1 spot constantly.
9) Would you hype up this character (if you like) or warn about this character (if you dislike) to someone new to fandom? I would wax poetic. I would wane nostalgic. I would give my listener a blowjob just so they could remember feeling good things when the name "Bishop" comes up.
10) Is this character popular with the fanbase? He's actually very popular! There are some that don't particularly like him, or aren't very impressed, but there are a lot who profess undying love and affection for this evil(ish) little vampire.
