Dante!

Okay, first of all, for those who have played the games, I play Dante like a year or so after the end of DMC3.

There are a few reasons for this:

1) PLOTHOLES omg if you try to connect the story between 1 and 3 (Because face it, 2 had no plot) it's not actually possible. Details like that game 1 saying that Eva and Vergil were "killed by Evil" when in 3 Vergil clearly gets himself smoked by his own brother and Eva is already dead kind of like, screws things over. So I basically ignore it.

2) Dante is different in game 1. He has even WORSE dialog. A level of dialog SO INSANELY HORRIBLE I could never hope to replicate it and he's also and emo punk out for vengeance, which isn't nearly as fun as a college kid who just likes to party and kill shit.

Now, for those who haven't played the game, a brief summary of Dante from DMC3.

Dante is the son of Sparda, a legendary demon who 2000 years prior cloned the gates of hell, which prevented demons from coming into the human world and slaughtering people. No one really believes in Sparda for real anymore. However, while Sparda is dead himself there is nothing to suggest that Dante is 2000 years old, so Sparda is assumed to have wandered around the human world for a while. He took a human woman, Eva, as his lover (we like to assume it wasn't demon rape or something) and she gave birth to twins named Vergil and Dante.

Sparda is apparently dead, though how he died is never mentioned. Dante and Vergil apparently never met their father.

Eva is dead as well, how this happened is also not mentioned.

Eva wore an amulet, a red stone, and when she died this stone was divided between Vergil and Dante. DMC3 reveils that this stone is the key to the gates of hell that Sparda closed and Vergil wants Dante's half to open the gates and find for himself much l33t demon power, on par of that of their father's.

The game ends with Dante defeating Vergil, who chooses to fall into Hell, the world that belonged to their father. Dante emos about this for a few seconds, and then he gets over it. This is probably the biggest sign that Dante has hordes of emo hidden within himself. Something has bad as killing his own brother and last family member, who he did very obviously care for is something that he sheds exactly one tear over and then throws himself back into killing demons with a wild grin on his face. Considering that he ALWAYS acts like that it suggests that a part of him is always just running ahead of the angst.

But... he's half demon so he can run far and fast. I really don't see Dante ever having an emotional breakdown.

Dante can be cornily serious about things when he wants to. It doesn't happen often, but he can talk about souls and hearts and fate and what-have-you with a serious tone and straight face, which is really funny to behold.

In final, Dante is the ultimate cool guy in actions. He can dodge bullets, but he doesn't. He takes them and then acts indignant about getting shot, or just doesn't acknowledge it at all. He can use any weapon, though he prefers Ebony and Ivory, his guns. He can ride motorcycles UP TOWERS and surf blood gargoyles down them. And he takes horrible wounds but never gets a cut in his coat. The only thing he can't do and be utterly awesome at is talk. Despite being such a flashy guy, Dante doesn't apparently care what anyone thinks about him. Too much confidence to allow it.

And on an only slightly related note: Vergil is exactly the same way. He's flashy and totally capable of talking in the same dorky manner as his younger brother. Vergil is just so aloof about it that you can sometimes forget that he's like, an amazingly cool and awesome doofus.
