I can’t believe it’s after 11 PM already! I FINALLY have a day off tomorrow, but it will be spent catching up on housework, then I have to take Danny to the Orthopedic Center for an appointment at 3. His back continues to give him trouble, and while a chiropractor has been helpful in temporarily making him feel better, it’s not really fixing anything. So….more x-rays and perhaps a physical therapy plan. We have to check out the mild scoliosis, too, and see what we need to do to prevent that from getting worse.
But at least during the day I will have time to get caught up on some errands as well as some things around here. I hope. It was hard getting home from work last night about 8 PM, then having to do dishes and three loads of laundry - which didn’t get completely done, since I zonked out after I got the second load in the wash. At least dinner was a no-brainer, with us eating frozen pizza. That was fine for last night, but that’s not really good for us for as often as I have to work those kinds of shifts. I’m thinking it’s time to invest in a crock pot. I used to have one, but it disappeared and I just never replaced it. Maybe if I know I have something delicious and nutritious cooking all day, I won’t be as stressed out over having to have junk for supper so often. My kids will feed themselves, but it will be something microwaveable or they’ll fix themselves a bowl of cereal or something. And if they wait till I come home? It’ll definitely be whatever can be cooked in about 15 minutes or less.
Gah. As if there’s not enough kitchen stuff to stress over. I’ve been needing a new range for a while, but have managed to work with just having a stovetop and my microwave/convection oven. But the fridge? Seems to be on the outs for good this time. It’s just not cooling off at all. I mean…it is, but not nearly as much as it used to, and as it should be. The freezer is still cold, so I’m not sure what could be wrong with it. However…..I am tired of trying to work with it. I am SO tempted to go to one of those rent-to-own places and just have an overpriced fridge and range on no credit and a hefty sum monthly, or bi-weekly or whatever. I HATE to do that, but I don’t see another way around it. Even skeezy-looking appliances from thrift stores are at least $150…and I am not going to have at least $300 laying around all at once anytime soon, at any rate. My best bet may actually be to go the rent-to-own way and just pay it off as soon as humanly possible. Has anyone ever used one of those places? Was your experience a good one?
I am really excited about tomorrow also, because it is menu-planning, grocery list-making day. I’m hoping to be able to pick up a few cheap splurge items, too
