He’s Just Not That Into You

There’s been an abundance of chick-flicks lately that I’ve wanted to see, and He’s Just Not That Into You was at the top of my list. I hadn’t read the book, so I wasn’t sure what to expect from the movie. However, I had *heard* about the book, and loved the movie’s stars - especially the adorable Gennifer Goodwin, and Drew Barrymore, who, in my opinion, shines in everything she does.

Now that I’ve seen the movie? I think every young girl should be required to see it, or read the book. I wish it had been around when I was young and impressionable, and wistfully daydreaming of mediocre dates leading to engagement rings and all that. Wish I had known how to truly decipher the little hints and subtleties I willfully chose to ignore, which could have potentially saved me a lot of trouble.

I thought the movie realistically portrayed that:
  • You don’t have to have a man to be happy.
  • You don’t have to get married to be in love.
  • And being married isn’t always all it’s cracked up to be.

I’m sure there was more, but the movie made some good points that I think could help young ladies (and really, women of all ages) learn to let go and weed out those “options” who simply aren’t worth the time and effort.
