It’s over.

Seriously. I think we’re going to have to split up. Our relationship already seems to have run its course. In retrospect, it hasn’t even been that long of a relationship. And I was so happy at first. I just KNEW I’d found the perfect one for me. And things were very good for a while.

Then I started seeing signs that the life was slowly being drained from me. Some days, I even really looked my age….or older. I never know if we’re going to have a good day, or a bad day, or a horrible day. This has caused all sorts of insecurities to kick in. Not to mention it sometimes makes me feel like a tired old woman, even though I don’t always look it.

Since I just can’t live like this anymore, I’ve begun ’shopping’ around for better. I’m not a high-maintenance girl, but I can be demanding. I hope that what I find this time is up to the challenges of being with me, will help me tone down my flaws, will complement me in every possible way…..well, I just hope for a better relationship when I finally do find the RIGHT one. I just hope I’m not more in love with the idea of this kind of happy relationship than I am to actually making one work. Wish me luck.

For what it’s worth, I do still love my mineral makeup. (For me, that’s L’oreal’s ‘Bare Naturale’). I love the ease and quickness with which it can be applied. I love that you get to choose the level of coverage you want. You can even buy different shades and blend them to make the perfect one for your skin tone. And to top it all off, the minerals are good for your skin!

Those are all such terrific ideas. But in reality, I saw that my shade sometimes makes me look half dead. In the areas I need more coverage, it’s sometimes really obvious that I’ve used more. And when I get hot or sweaty, it sometimes tends to look waxy. I don’t know if it’s this particular brand, but it all seems to look gooped up when I start getting hot. Not always, just sometimes. Can these problems be fixed? Is it just the brand? CAN THIS RELATIONSHIP BE SAVED???

I’m already thinking of trying the Physician’s Formula mineral makeup, since it’s specifically geared to sensitive skin. I’m having a bit of trouble finding a skin care routine that I enjoy. Neutrogena’s foaming facial cleanser seems to be working, but I may try the Physician’s Formula one when I run out. I really like that they are a cruelty-free company.

Then again, I’ve always liked Clinique’s skin care and makeup. Perhaps I should just stop looking in drug and discount stores for the right ‘relationship’ and head to the department store cosmetics counter. It’s not that much more expensive.

Oh, on that note……do any of you have anyone you’d like to fix me up with? I’d like to try my luck again with another mineral makeup. But suggestions from skin care to cosmetics is greatly appreciated. My only requirement is I’d prefer a cruelty-free brand.
