A favorite memory

from my childhood was going to the local carnival, which was actually more like a festival, since there were no rides or anything. But they had food, games, entertainment, and a wide assortment of goods for sale from handmade clothing and toys to furniture. Always, the politicians would be out ‘making friends’ if it was an election year; businesses would be out promoting their services, etc. The tools of choice for these folks back in the day were promotional pens. I always felt special because these people couldn’t pass their pens out fast enough, and they never minded that I was a kid and not an adult. Their advertisement would eventually end up in the hands of parents, who could vote and spend money, so the ploy always worked.
