As of Thursday, I am officially unemployed and have started my summer adventure of living on severance pay and unemployment. I am terribly excited about this...yeah, losing the job stinks, but the commute was hellacious, but I was settled in enough there that I just never got around to looking for another job. This particular job, if you include my communte, ate up at least 50 to 60 hours of my week, every week and the rest of my life suffered for it, so I am basking in the opportunity to clean my goddamn house, go to JuJitsu classes every other day, catch up on LONG over due BCB and LGN business (particularly the websites), finish up a million and one art projects and costumes, sell loads of stuff on ebay (including some original designs of tiny hats, , film movies, perform in New York every month, build my monster home network and get SQL certified, help Mark with all sorts of techie stuff including lots of amazing new product, read loads and loads of books in my backyard hammock, garden, catch up on a whole lot of movies and tv box sets (currently digging "Hex") , build giant robots, produce some intensely geek oriented shows, catch up with friends and family and just generally enjoy life for a refreshing change. I'll get around to looking for a job come July, but the way I budgeted my severance, I won't need to even touch my unemployment until August and still have a cushion of moola in my bank account....so I'm not going to let my ingrained-from-birth working class guilt get the best of me about not having a job (at least not for a couple of months....). If you need to find me, I'll most likely be here or here:
I love my freakin' yard...
The last month has been so busy and non-stop I haven't had a spare breath to even post here, but here's some highlights of the past month or so:
- Performed in NYC a few times: My bat act at Sweet and Nasty; my Darth act at Starshine (in which I almost lost an eye, but persevered...not my best version of the act, but I was trying to ignore an wire sticking in my tear duct) and the Bat Act once again at Dottie Lux's show for Burlesque at the Beach at Coney. Great fun, great shows all....I love my surrogate NYC burlesque family and Brooklyn just feels like home to me. I also found a kick ass present for Mark in Williamsburg....an incredible 3D picture of the Creature from the Black Lagoon at EarWax records.

- Found out I'm performing at Exotic World, with the infamous Darth act! I'm currently retooling the Darth costume and polishing it all up a bit. Can you say Death Star pasties? I'm also zapping all errant wires....I'll also be taking part in the Guinness World Record Bump and Grind, representing Massachusetts in the EW Gala Opening Procession, escorting a legend, hanging with sharks and trying to get Tura Satana to sign my JuJitsu Gi. I'm also planning all my Devilicia-wear....last year I didn't bother with a lot of hard core glamour (hello Motorhead bathing outfit....) but there's too many goddamn photographers there and my toughie attire didn't photograph to the best of my advantage.
- Finally saw the new Doctor Who (after repeated harranguing from Johnny Porkpie---it was good, but I don't know if I can live with a Doctor Who with, you know, production values....) and have discovered the saucy little BBC supernatural series "Hex" (it's no Buffy, but there's loads of sex , a lesbian ghost, leather clad anoited ones and some well done demons...I'll take it).
- As a benefit from the company going out of business, I am the proud owner (or reseller) of a whole motherload of lovely techie equipment, lab furniture/supplies and more office supplies than I could imagine. I've got a color laserjet printer, 24 inch color plotter, Laser MFP,laminators, bunsen burners, stainless steel desks, portable A/C, computers, flat screens and a motherload of random items to sell on ebay, like very expensive toner cartridges. Right now the apartment is an unholy mess--but it' s a mess that's worth a good chunk o' change.....now I just have to go through it all
- I have a new sexy gadget---Sidekick 3. Love it...I just have to get my new numbers to all and sundry.
- I've been watching the National Geographic "A Man Among Wolves" documentary---aside from eating the fresh kills with the wolf pack, this is my freakin' dream....living as a member of a wolf pack. I'm ok with dirt and pooping in the woods..though I think I'd miss airconditioning a bit.
- The new Harry Potter is coming out in IMAX 3D. I may pee myself.
- I'm shooting a movie on Coney Island this summer with Val Kilmore. There will be much wrestling.
- I'm in the beginning stages of putting together a gundam act (transforming giant japanese robots)---can't decide if I'm going to do Gaiking or Dragon or Voltron.
- The Pillows rock my anime-geek world.
- I got a Tom Tom. I can not ever live without one now. John Cleese gets me to where I need to go.
- Did I mention how much I love our verdant yard? One of the items I managed to snag in the liquidation is a super lightweight digital projector and a big old drop down screen, so we are going to have movie nights out in the yard. Fuck the mosquitos.
