Last night was cool....It started yesterday morning. Liz, one of our juniors, needed some stuff faxed for Helkey. She told me she didn't think he had enough help and asked if I could come help at the dance at the Gray for the incoming freshman.
Glad I went because it was just myself, the 2 Stuco sponsors, 2 cops, 2 administrators, and 3 other teachers for over 100 students. 2 of the teachers were only there for an hour and a half.
This evening was a great success with little incident all due to the great class act we have called Student Counsel! These students are a fine example of leadership. They helped maintain order, provided refreshments for the dancers to purchase, and served as emmisaries of good will toward the underclasswomen/men. One fine example was a 9th grade young man whom no one was speaking to. The Stuco group immediately started talking to him, they befriended him and got him out on the dance floor where he was for 2 and a half of the 3 hours. And he left with new friends.
These are things that make everything worth while.
All I did was give up a friday to chaparone....what they did is truly a blessing.
