“What’cha drawing there?” Jaejoong whispered to Changmin when the teacher had his back turned to them. The younger grinned and moved his arm away to reveal a scribble of a mini-Jaejoong comic strip. “Yah! Is that me? My arms look fat,” he hissed.
It was Changmin’s day, so Jaejoong really had no say in what went into the notebook. The younger continued to scribble crudely drawn muscles onto Jaejoong’s arms and chest, giving the appearance of a fat woman in a boy’s uniform. Just to tease, Changmin added flowers and sparkles, topping the picture with a speech bubble saying, “I love you the most in the world Lord Voldemin!” Jaejoong rolled his eyes and went back to taking third rate notes.
Changmin snickered, watching his boyfriend pout angrily, furrowed brows creasing together as he concentrated on ignoring the love of his life. It was times like this that Changmin forgot there were more guys than girls in the class. It had to be fate that they were seated next to each other when everyone else was partnered with someone of the opposite gender.
That night when Changmin got home, he rushed through his homework like he loved the stuff, ate as if the world was going to end, and then flopped in bed for the best part of his day. Besides seeing Jaejoong of course. He pulled out the notebook and flipped to the page that Jaejoong had dictated last night, prepared for more heartbreaking beauty. Lyrics of a happy and fulfilled love danced across the page and words of their story screamed his name.
He loved his days. The thrill of opening their little notebook and viewing whatever expression of love the other had given always hyped him up. Changmin waited until late in the evening so Jaejoong would fill his mind and find his way into his dreams. Jaejoong usually wrote poems or song lyrics, and if he couldn’t do that, he’d make a little diary entry about his feelings. It was really girly and cheesy, and that’s why they both loved to do it. If you’re going to go gay, why not go all the way?
The first night they had shared a bed together had been awkward because Changmin had the notebook the next day. He hadn’t known whether to write about the pleasure or just keep on with his doodles. After that he learned to act on his instinct, even if that meant he was drawing little penises in the middle of class.
There were a few hours left before Changmin couldn’t stay awake any longer, so he went back to working on his earlier sketch, Jaejoong sleeping with an eraser digging into his cheek and hair falling messily across his eyes during a boring math lecture. Each pencil stroke was a passage of his undying affection and brought giddiness to him. How happy would Jaejoong be when he saw his sketch?
Whatever joy he felt, Jaejoong would be sure Changmin knew in whatever love he reciprocated.
