Thirty years in Banking does that to a person. I'm earthbound like Sao Paulo, although of course I appreciate the magical.
Its interesting that after Brazilia gradually withdrew money and population from Rio, the international banks moved their headquarters to Sao Poalo, in much the same way as the banks left Montreal as a reaction to the separatist movement, and moved to my beloved Toronto.
Of course in both cities, I have "friends" who are exiles from the more beautiful, sensual city. My Carioca friends all still proudly repeat that the Pope said he was a Carioca.

Oh, fuck! Did he really?! Well, we put up with a horribly polluted Guanabara Bay, there is a vicious drug war going on, Tom Jobim is still dead, and now Christ's goddamned vicar is a Carioca wannabee. I guess we can tough it out. (But the Guy on Corcovado must be pretty pissed...)
