la parure

Yay! Nathalie is a French photographer with a delicious eye for sexy poses. AND she sent me a quick reply yesterday, saying "yes yes you can," perhaps alluding to President Obama and his 2008 campaign. (He's possibly more of a hero in Europe AFTER the awful elections here two weeks ago...)

No details about WHO this delectable body might belong to. The title refers to her "necklace." ** But, as a study of sensuality, tone and sheer knock-out attractiveness, this shot is among my favorite "finds" of recent months. Which is especially lucky, among the various photos for which I sought permision yesterday it's the ONLY reply I've yet had.

As I mentioned then, I sometimes play a little "game" as I wander on Flickr: I randomly find a photographer new to me, whose work is lovely, sexy and beguiling, request permission to post several shots, THEN look at that Flickr member's "favorites" list (illustrated with photos by those faves), see something interesting and go over to that member's collection, choose 2 terrific shots and contact THAT photographer for their agreement to post, and THEN repeat the exercise.

Yesterday I set a record, a "personal best," running my "string" out to FIVE Flickrettes -- and then blew it, getting someone determined to show us every freaking flower that grows in, I don't know, the French" Midi" or someplace -- no more fetching "jeunes filles." Fini!

But it was fun. I hope I'll get other permissions so I can better illustrate "the game."

PW 48 (Mlle N, this is a complicated rating system I cannot possibly explain without...er, blushing a LOT! Just trust me -- it's a good score!)

** Checking the translation, I find that it's an important literary reference -- to “'The Necklace," by Guy de Maupassant, published in 1881, supposedly "among the finest surprise-ending [short] stories in any language." I notice that the author died at age 43, publishing this in his 30s. It must be an interesting story -- his own, let alone "La Parure."
