My favorite spanking devotee is a respectable New York Times and "New Yorker" writer named Daphne Merkin. She wrote a personal confession in the latter in the mid-1990s, admitting she loved the idea of being punished by a lover. She is also extremely deep into psychoanalysis, and published a well considered analysis of...well, analysis several weeks ago in the NYTimes magazine --

As Merkin is currently quoted on the New Yorker Website: "...I cannot conceive of mentioning the subject without envisioning the therapist in question, male or female, immediately envisioning me in the position under discussion."
And the site goes on, "[w]hen she eventually did confess her fantasy to her therapist, he conceded that the number of women patients who over the years have confided their fantasies of being spanked with a paddle or a badminton racquet [hmmmm...] was, in his words 'mind-boggling.'"
