Unusual to see a writer you like being quoted in the papers about current events. Check this out:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2020/05/08/jobs-coronavirus-unemployment-economy-politics/ It's the lead story on the Post's front page today, about the terrible damage done to our economy. Thanks, Trumpsky!
Kind of obvious that they would have perceptive, insightful coverage, so I dug into it. The 6-column piece quoted all the usual suspects, with Chernow summing up:
"'I have no doubt that the resentments, fears and grievances that people are experiencing right now are going to shape our politics for the next generation very much as what happened after 2008,' said Ron Chernow, author of popular biographies of President Ulysses S. Grant (800 pp, but I read every word a year ago) and Alexander Hamilton" (on which the Broadway hit musical was based).
"The rebuilding can’t come soon enough for those already suffering from the failure to better manage the pandemic.
“'All these people experiencing it have had a whiff of fear,' said Chernow. “They’ve had a foretaste of what it’s like to be deprived of your normal place in society. That’s not something they’ll easily forget”
