The infamous "8chan" is killed as a danger to humanity

Do please, all of you freedom-loving friends, read this well-detailed WPost article on HOW sanity seems to have prevailed in the wake of the El Paso shootings. It required conscientious Web administrators in companies that provide services to the iniquious 8chan and others (the Nazi-loving "Daily Stormer" being one).

Notably, a UK** company called "Voxility" took down the 8chan operation from its support activities. It did so only after another company, "Cloudflare," temporarily blocked 8chan on Sunday. Another firm, called "Bitmitigate," stepped in to replace "Cloudflare" working for 8chan, so Voxility finally pulled the plug on the rabble-rousing 8chan.

Yes, the "freedom" to stoke hatred has been undercut by Internet actors -- who have long been worried by the outrageous white-supremacy abuses of right-wing extremists.

And do I feel at all unhappy at 8chan's dubious freedom being squashed? Not in the least!

** Apparently US-based firms had legal constraints from acting so deftly in the "minefield" (my word) of "legal liability for the content their users post," as the article states.
