Volkswagen adverts -- high risk, for sure!
In the past several days, I've seen a couple of unusual TV ads for a new generation of Volkswagen. They start by referring -- quite frankly -- to the huge scandal of the company "fudging" their pollution-control standards. A weird way to sell me a car!
Then we get Simon & Garfunkle's classic "Sounds of Silence" while showing a designer tearing up his sketches, and THEN a classic VW van emerges, sorta modernized and -- it turns out -- all electric!
Bold moves, all right! Not the first electric car, sure, but among the few conventional car-makers (Jaguar seems to be another) risking a major changeover at this point in automotive history.
