"Standing Rock" goes down. The indians finally win one!
Big news: this afternoon it was announced that the ongoing protests over the oil pipeline in the upper Midwest had done the trick. Public pressure has now stopped an environmentally dubious energy project. Stunning!!
I had been surprised that the Standing Rock pipeline project would be protested so vigorously. So I've been tracking it...and I agree the various public agencies (including the Army Corps of Engineers) dropped the ball. Worse, police entities truly screwed up, using grotesquely inappropriate force. This weekend saw a terrific turnout of demonstrators and their allies. The Sioux WIN one!
