Gosh, Peaches, sorry to hear you'd had a tough period -- though, it seems, you had an accomodating girlfriend to help you through.
As for moi, when I was in Brazil in the 80s, their beauty shops did really fantastic waxing -- and I, of course, wore their special "tanga" (string*) micro-bikinis, making even a "landing strip" hard to hide. So, NOTHING is even more neat and tidy.

I know a little about Sweden as the Ponies' getaway spot, but hadn't heard mention of the Tuscan villa. Woohoo! It happens that Italy is a favorite holiday place of OURS, too.
In fact, Joanne and I met when I was working in Rome 20-odd years ago -- and we get back to Italy as often as we can. Friends a few years ago leased a place east of Arezzo, and we spent a few delightful weeks with them, exploring that part of Tuscany and a bit of nearby Umbria (OMG, Gubbio!).
We'd done much of western "Toscana" previously, going back to San Gimignano (the weird towers...) often, despite the hoards of tourists. (We found the answer to that, visiting in the off-season.) Our other favorite place is Orvieto -- ooh, lots of memories!

Dear P -- that is a wonderful tribute to Sammy; again, I'm so sorry that things got so very bad, and so impressed with her rescuing you from the darkness. (As for myself, I find that I need both Joanne [albeit not necessarily for the sex -- which still surprises me] AND my meds. Lots of us need both the person and the meds...)
I'm glad that I share Italy with you lovely girls. What's your favorite place there?

Siena's beautiful! I was last there for the Palio (a medieval horse-race among the place's neighborhoods) -- and it was mobbed with German tourists. (Not the best moment to enjoy an elegant old city... but I do recall good food and great wine.)
Dear Peaches: Sad to hear of your "dark" time, but apparently the friend-turned-lover was some recompense ("and so much more"). You and I seem to have led parallel lives: a decade ago Joanne got me through a severe bout of depression -- sticking with me throughout. (Happily, I eventually got on meds that have controlled it pretty effectively.)
The memory of that loving support is one reason why I've remained with her since then, given our intimate problems -- which I've scribbled about in this blog, possibly to excess.
