I did check Wiki regarding current criticism of PETA: they summarize: "[PETA's] reception even among liberals is, to put it politely, decidedly mixed. Less politely, they're extremely divisive, and likely to spark flamewars in [Web] gatherings of multiple points of view. Wow, you're right: those are disgusting stats. Killing 70-80% of the animals they receive from stupid pet-owners!! So, evidently, PETA's PR stunts are simply ploys in a vicious campaign to raise funds ($50 million last YEAR!)...
