I just ran across a tumblr by a Brazilian girl calling herself "menininha-gay" -- or gay girlie, with "menina" sporting the baby-talk endearment of "-inha" (pronounced "een-ya"). Some Brazilian babes cannot get through three sentences without adding the throwaway "-inha"... dulcinha (sweetie), fofinha (well, "bubble-brain" is about right), amorcinha (lovey), etc.
Cloying, right? Yes, but whispered at the right time, by the right girl, it can be charming as all heck...

I just clicked one of four tags I listed for this post, "me exposed" -- turns out that, among my earlier uses of this tag, one takes you to this reblog showing a great bar in Ipanema Beach, south of Rio, supposedly where -- 45 years ago -- the Bossa Nova song "Girl from Ipanema" was written by guitarist/singer Antonio Carlos ("Tom" -- really) Jobim* and the poet Vinicius de Morais. (As you'll see on my reblog, the actual bar is a block and a half away...)

"Tom" died rather young, and still today he's so beloved of Cariocas that they named Rio's international airport after him.
