New Yorker magazine's blog today says that a "new state law [in North Carolina] is a reminder of how the concept of religious freedom has been stretched in strange new directions." This is in the context of gay marriage, and parallels Texas' similar effort to permit county marriage-licensing clerks there to refuse to issue them if their religious sensitivities are offended by rampant homosexuality. ("Oh, Maude, perist the thought.")
A month ago, it was Indiana, Arkansas and other wannabe gay-bashers. They got stopped by outraged public opinion (and, as a result, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence saw his overambitious Presidential hopes dashed).
Which asshole zealot is next?
