In the late 70s, I read Rita Mae's first book, Rubyfruit Jungle. As a closeted lesbian, I was amazed to find such a frank portrayal of girl-on-girl sex. I was thrilled!
Now she's getting belated recognition: the Lambda Foundation's 2015 award. It will be presented by GLoria Steinem -- two of my favorite liberated women on the same dais.
