Thanks for this. We missed this entirely in the UK, and I'm sorry that you missed it too. It's rather like back in 1999 when a full solar eclipse was going to be visible from the southernmost parts of the country. In the days leading up to this day of the eclipse the weather was glorious...up till about half an hour before it was due. Then it suddenly went overcast, remaining so until about half an hour after the eclipse, when the sky became clear again. Or comet Ison, which was going to be the brightest comet seen for decades, and a major spectacle in the night sky in 2014. In November last year it went too close to the Sun and vanished in a cloud of steam. Sometimes it's as if the instant you say 'This is going to be an incredible sight!' Fate decides 'Oh no, it isn't!'

Had a look at the Aussie site. Truly a heavenly body.

Definitely "two birds with one site"... Reminding me to revisit it soon.

Friends in California reported they also couldn't see it for the cloud cover. Fate, again!

we had no chance too-even to see the fullmoon,cloudy,windy-eekk..brrrr :(
