My Past Resistance to Blogging with Guys

Apr 02, 2014 15:31

Hey, I must be in a reflective mood. I just replied to another male LJ friend about sex-blogging. Again, it seemed of possible interest to my delectable, omnivorous readers:

"Yeah, that throwaway 'for a guy' [I'd praised his open style and what Steven Colbert calls 'truthiness'] WAS me 'inhabiting' my lifelong lesbian style. I will confess, though, that blogging on LJ truly liberated me from crummy mental habits -- in effect writing off guys as sexually irrelevant.

"You've seen my reposts of photos from Flickr (with all the recent hassles!) -- I started off eight years ago ONLY looking for my 'contemporary femme' theme among women shooters. I quickly saw that men were as good at capturing that feminine openness/vulnerability as woman were. And the rest is History...

"Likewise, I knew 'chained' [his pointed criticism of generations dragooned into monogamy] was metaphorical, not literal -- but I like to cast a wide net. Some of my best conversations here have started with my dropping a sexual reference. (Which I love about blogs, as compared to RL -- you CAN "give good innuendo" [I stole that from a Tumblr blog-title] without offending, as you often would in polite society.)

"So I treasure your BDSM reminiscing, paralleling my own intense experience these days with my fabulous on-line mistress.

"Allons-y!"
