A fashion magazine and an oligarch
I'm a bit sleepless at 5:00 am, so I wandered onto Tumblr and stumbled across an intriguing series of connections, starting with a fashionista blog called "we are village." As I recounted in reblogging a not-terribly-exciting beachwear design (see text below), there is a London/Moscow publication called Garage* Magazine that's run by a fascinating 33-year-old Russo/Californian named Dasha. I dug into who she is, learning some intriguing stuff.

-- Justine again: ostensibly, this is a beach cover-up styled by Ashish ("accessorized" with a tacky plastic bag), but the "Garage" reference is to a fashion publication out of London, edited by the controversial Dasha Zhukova. She's the partner (2 kids) of Russian oligarch Roman Abramowitz (he bought the Chelsea soccer team, and is also known for his huge yachts -- and political links to Putin).

* Abramowitz and Zhukova launched a lavish Moscow arts center, "...housed in one of Russia’s architectural masterpieces, the former Bakhmetevsky Bus Garage, designed in 1926 by the Constructivist architect, Konstanin Melnikov," according to Wiki. They're about to open another center on "New Holland Island" in St. Petersburg.
