Burg Thurant

BURG THURANT, a photo by Life on Manual on Flickr.
So, okay, I said I'd show you one of Jason's photos of castles. Burg Thurant is 12th century; by the 13th, it had been divided between two archbishops -- so the place developed into two residences, with a dividing wall. And it evolved architecturally in distinct directions.

Located on the Mosel River south of Koblenz, it's fairly recently opened for visitors -- though the place is still privately owned.

I myself love traveling in Germany; there are these fascinating places seemingly around every corner! And don't you delight in the grapevines going all the way up to the castle walls? All that lovely Mosel-type white wine?

Apropos of my "old tags" game, I AM aware here that I chose "winehouse" because -- inexplicably -- I didn't create a "wine" tag back when I was tagging the heck out of my blog. I guess I scribbled something (?) about the late Amy Winehouse -- but wtf, it'll do to reflect my scribble here about Mosel wine! And ditto for "german blog" -- I had no need of a Germany tag, so this is as close as I got!

german blog, delicious, sensualists, winehouse
