SORRY, GUYS, THIS SHOW IS LIKE HARDCORE DRUGS. I TAKE ONE A WEEK AND I TRIP BALLS AND RIDE MY HIGH UNTIL MONDAY.
So, um, that was the most exciting episode of the show so far this season, am I right?! I heard that a lot of fans were truly disappointed in the premiere, and if Fresh Blood isn't the very epitome of this show, I don't know what is. It just had EVERYTHING that this show is about, and every technical element was there and perfectly fitted in this well-oiled machine.
First of all, even if Sera Gamble's episodes aren't always my favourites, she at least writes some of the best boys moments in all of the show. And even if you don't agree with me there, then I have to say she writes some of the best Sam and some of the best Dean. Dean was cute and dorky and snarky and terrified and wonderful and caring and FRUSTRATING. GOD, DEAN, I MISSED YOU SO FREAKING MUCH. I still wanted to punch him in the face for his retarded 'I got nothing to lose' attitude, but this episode totally played that in so insanely well. I didn't always see what was coming, and it's nice to have that happen, e.g. when Dean cut his arm to bait the vampire. It wasn't writing to beat you over the head with, LOOK AT DEAN'S ANGST, HE IS SO RECKLESS~, which is very much a breath of fresh air right now.
I am quite pleased with the directing, acting, shot composition, editing, and OMG, the lighting.
I really, really loved how they showed the audience how it felt like to be a vampire. When Gordon was first turned, I was fascinated by how he heard things around him, and the way he saw, too.
UGH, THE VIOLENCE MADE ME SO. FUCKING. HAPPY. I was kicking and clapping and giddy and CACKLING GLEEFULLY when Sam finally sliced Gordon's head off, to which mother said, "that's not funny."
Hahahahahaha. "Gordo." So good.
So. much. good character work. Kubrick was great, like last time (ONE TEAR about his death, you guys), and Gordon was more interesting than ever before. His single-minded purpose to kill Sam was not even a fraction as silly as it was when he reappeared in Bad Day.
I APPROVED MUCHLY OF JARED'S HAIR. Like, SO MUCH, OMG. It's not nearly as greasy as last year, and it's not all poofy, or nothing, and it's got the CURVE~ above his ears, and. AND OMG, HOW HOT WAS DEAN IN THE BEGINNING. And, and, him threatening Bela over the phone. a;ksdjhklasj I have not heard a seriously pissed off Dean in awhile, it's nice to have him back.
Guh, damnit, GUH WHEN SAM IS VIOLENT. I love to see Sam using his largeness to BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF PEOPLE. And what's even better is when he uses his brains and his resourcefulness to slice n' dice. Mmm, nothing spells PANTY CREAMER like brains + brawn + beauty. SERIOUSLY.
Oh, God, I haven't even the words to describe ~*THE SCENE*~ because, Jesus Christ, I don't even know if I felt the full effect of it because I was slapping the couch. And when my hands got tired, I used a pillow and continued to beat upon it out of squee and glee. Just. Sam has the patience of a saint. He never fails to impress me.
Anyway, this show is amazing, and this is one of if not THE best episode of the season.
And apparently we're on hiatus until next month. I think The Show comes back the day I finish my project - December 13th - WHICH IS LIKE, THE BEST REWARD EVER. And Kripke said he was really, really happy with a cut he saw for the next episode, soooo.
