i stayed true to my rural typecast and managed to have my face checked in the local Boots for this new foundation they're raving about.
Apparently my face is like alabaster/eggshell when it comes to foundation. until the company fathom that there is a demographic of women out there that require ultra, ultra, ULTRA pale foundation i'm sticking with the intelligent stuff.
Work is pretty crappy too. This whole 12 hr operating time malarkey sounds worse than it actually is. Surgeon's never arrive on time and never leave on time as a result. and they want to teach too. so a slow list goes even slower. a list that was supposed to finish at 7.30pm last thursday instead ran over to half past TEN!
and the patient nearly died!
Surprisinglyy the first instance produced more indignation than the second. Patient's are always "almost" dying. If we shut down every time a near miss happened we'd never open the theatres up to begin with.
Surprising? Shouldn't be. i mean, all my job involves is holding someone in a chemical stasis to the point where a machine breathes for them, then cutting them open, removing something important, (or jerryrigging something important out of something else) stopping them bleeding out, re-connect everything, giving it a good once-over and sewing up.
I mean, shit, they were doing this back in prehistoric times right???
I'm working and i'm writing. and that's about as good as it gets at the moment.
i think i need to learn something else now. something more than what i know already.
blood and gore,
writing,
work blues
