is what i was doing this afternoon.
well, i say 'afternoon' but actually it was just for an hour between half four and half five. in reality i was scrubbed for a robot case from 10.30 to 4.30pm.
that's over lunchtime, and as i result i didn't get any. i didn't get to go home earlier either, which kinda added insult to injury but never mind.
instead I curled up on the floor watching the 3rd robot of the day get underway and started my usual extensive editing of my recent attempts at dark narrative structure.
it involves using a mix of food and chess as metaphor.
first draft, needs a lot of work....
did i mention i'm on the books for another writing course starting in September?
well, i am. i get back from NYC on the 14th and the course starts the following Thursday. same place i've been enamoured with recently, The FolkHouse on Park St, and it's right next door to the Bagel Boy, Bristol's first real attempt at selling bagels in the this part of the country.
I know, cider drinkin' doesn't really go with salt beef or lox on a roll with a hole in it, but this isn't Golders Green or the Lower East Side so we have to make do with what we have. and as it's every Thursday 5.30-7.30 for 12 weeks I think i'll be living in that place waiting for class to start in the immediate future.
or at least until the place goes broke, which will probably happen.
Short story writing with the same guy who taught me flash-writing back in July. Billy Muir. Got on well with the guy, so everything's shiny from that end.
in the meantime i'm going back to the proofing.
also i think i need to buy the first season of Leverage. cos i saw the first episode today (The Nigerian Job) and there are whole scenes edited from that broadcast. is it a region 2 thing? how the 4 of them get out of the hospital after they're arrested? not even mentioned.
eh???
oh well. probably a time thing no doubt.
writing,
blood,
scrubbing
