not having a laptop is sucky.
It's kinda cleansing I admit not having the vapid black-hole of nothingness known as facebook to hand, but not being able to type is something quite different. There's nothing wrong with longhand scribbling but it doesn't float my boat as much as it used to, especially when I'm working on something tangible not just random scenarios or brain dribbles.
And when i tried to re-build the desktop i had back in college it was so slow and gummed it didn't want to download anything, plus with all my anti-virus software on my laptop I'm flying without the proverbial "safety net". not good. not me either.
So until John Lewis figure out what's wrong with my baby I'm stuck without internet, facebook or anything else e-orientated.
Like the early thirties. Only less beige and with less anti-Semitism. ;)
In the interim the Olympics opened. I worked overtime yesterday so didn't see all of the opening ceremony. What i thought was the most interesting was how the NHS was heralded despite the current Tory attempts to gut the whole thing from the inside out.
It was like the show said "ISN'T THE NHS GREAT!!!!" and then softly "..did you know we're cutting over 4,000 frontline staff (doctors, nurses, etc..) in the next 12 months?"
why am i scared I've seen the NHS finest moment at the opening of an international sporting event?
A swansong? christ, i hope not..
And on Thursday I had my birthday, which was basically me in work for half the day. Hooray for being me.
And did more overtime yesterday to help pay for New York. Now sufficiently knackered.
overtime,
olympics,
birthdays
