I am not walking into the pub with a half-eaten black forest gateau!

i think it's nicer with the run-up to the holidays than it is the holidays themselves.
Case in point, last friday - the last day i was actually in work and did any while i was there - we finished our list a little early and the surgeon, 'Jimmy' no less, brought in 2 bottles of Brut champagne/wine for the crew. So we clean the theatre down, sit down and chat and he cracks these two bottles open.
After we've all had at least 2 glasses is exactly the time that the sister walks in.
And many of us have about 45 minutes of shift left.

People have been fired for being drunk on duty and I think it's only cos the surgeon brought it in, and the fact that it's christmas AND the fact that there were no other cases to do did she overlook it. Of course I found it funny when she came into the staff room and we all quickly hid our polystyrene cups, three of us spilling their contents in the process!
She said everything was fine and returned to where she'd come from.
We all went down the pub for another round or two.

Finally I rolled home at 8pm. then had to eat.

Christmas Day I worked (though can you really call talking, eating snack food and watching Miracle on 34th St 'work'?) in the morning and then spent the evening with my family.

And yesterday I bought a printer for this writing course and a pair of jeans that weren't in the sale (bugger!). The Bristol Mall was surprisingly quiet at that time. which is odd considering it was a Boxing Day sale. I guess we are all feeling the pinch. But I managed to pick up Seasons 5 and 6 of the L Word. So, FINALLY, I can finish the series.

Presents wise.
well i got everything from the special - diaries and journals from three separate people. aren't friends great? they can tell often what they think you'd like with a fair degree of accuracy. Also I got some bath stuff from Lush, some tights from Liberty's, chocolate, 2 paperbacks and a statuette of Angel Michael which my poppa picked up from Aber STARS back in September. It's Michael with his wings out, sword aloft and a "Gonna f**k you up now bitches!" look on his face. he rocks!

i'm back to work tomorrow but I know we don't have any robots so hopefully it'll just be small cases, which could be just as tough as the long ones given the fact we have a new computer system. it got installed on the 8th December and we still have MAJOR teething problems. And it's about 10 times more complicated than the old one. Great... what's that phrase about something not being broke..?

But we do have 3 days off for the end of the week thanks to another mandatory bank-holiday for the monday. So I guess it ain't all bad.

presents, shopping, hannuka, scrubbing, work pains, christmas, family
