it's taken me a long time to think of something to say here which hasn't been simply depressing, morose gushing.
What's worse than being sleep-deprived? being sleep deprived to see your team lose. So there's me, slumped on my parent's sofa bed (arguably THE most uncomfortable bed i've ever crashed on - and i've crashed on a few) crying at 4am as the loss sinks in combined with the fact I have to go to work in a new hospital with new people on Monday and i don't have the emotional lift that comes with a win to try and keep me afloat. Instead I'm saddled with the ignominy of the loss in the biggest annual sporting event on earth, the loss of the £10 I put on Pittsburgh to win, and the offseason that might stretch for longer than 8 months if there's a labour lock-out and a team (specifically a defense) that will have the average age of 31.1 in September and, as it had just been dissected on national television, will be at a disadvantage against the majority of its forthcoming opponents from the word go.
Ever wonder why I cried that night?
Today is Wednesday and I am better now, though the pain is still a little raw.
I'm sleeping better, enjoying my week off work and writing more. Also the head of the Art Dept in the hospital where I work would like to see my portfolio of my photos next wednesday over coffee. She's been given the control of cheering up the Southmead canteen and she's offered me some wall space should I choose (and as long as she can veto my pieces) to display them.
This is very cool. Squee!!!!!
And I haven't squeed in a while :) :) :)
My friend kB has gotten a lot better after recovering from hideous surgery in the mid part of january and she finally got around to giving me my holiday gift. 2 MAC nail-varnishes, a stuffed rabbit of truth from Ed Monkton and 3 (three!!) beautifully embossed journals from Paperchase that reminded her of Firefly/Serenity.
She knows I adore the show and all it stands for so she was more than happy to oblige my passion. And I can say that writing is my passion. And the MAC varnish looks amazing. Go get some guys, i know it's expensive but it's worth it soooo much..
