yeah, I didn't know all the backstory (and I didn't follow completely), but this episode didn't sit well with me either.

especially the parts with the soldiers obeying orders... though I suppose they were doing so in the knowledge their own children were safe... still, those are the kinds of orders that when you recieve them you salute smartly and shoot your officer in the head.

I don't think I would make a very good soldier, really...

me neither, and it is a shame really cos the RAF have been touting for business around our area, asking which nurses want to come and work for them and offering a 5,000 golden welcome mat for each new RAF nurse.
and i find that interesting.

but i'd have to wear a uniform, march and salute people and i'm not really into all of that hoo-ha. and following orders is always a pain cos i have a tendency to question everything these days.
*sigh* i can't be an RAF nurse then. :-(

see, if military nursing was like off M*A*S*H i'd join in a heartbeat. you play poker all the time, sunbathe, play practical jokes on people and get to sleep with cute surgeons.
reality is much less shiny. :-(

Apparently Season Four has now been commissioned... I watched 'Children of Earth' over the last two nights; I knew from various spoilers (it was broadcast while I was in France) that it was distressing but I was shocked at how brutal it was, too.

i think the callousness of the government comes across as the harshest of all the 'on-screen' activities.
especially when you consider that in the Lodz ghetto it actually happened when all children under the age of 10 had to be given up to save the adults.
Mothers put their children on the trucks at the meeting points and had to simply walk away :-( :-(
But history hushes up that part...

i'm pleased they're doing season 4 though, wonder how they're gonna do it????
