hen nights

the weekend was fantastic.
i'd post pics on here and my facebook but unfortunately i've mislaid the software needed to install the camera onto my harddrive.
i'm sure i have it cos i used it to upload pics from ellie's solstice party last august with emma, jaz, leo, kerry and co.
hmmm....

i'm sure it's in the house somewhere but it's irritating that i can't find the stuff and show you what happened.
cos it was cool.

me and roselba left the house a teeny bit late but after the bus ride we ended up ont he south bank looking gorgeous.
first of all was cocktails in the posh lounge of the National Film Theatre. lovely, and at $17.50 for 2 (TWO!) cocktails it was fashionably expensive.
i had something uber-sweet called an orange daiquiri. it was okay but by the end it was like drinking alcoholic treacle. and i paid for it later when we hit the wine i can tell you.

Leah, (the bride to be) looked suitably glam. and all of her friends seemed to get on with each other, which, i can attest, is the most nerve racking thing about bring ALL your friends together in one place. having them chat in a friendly way with each other, especially when all they have in common is you, is courting possible disaster. but in this case we all got on fairly well.

I especially had a great time chatting to a Czech girl called Danni who loved my clown tattoo and put me at ease at having my skin art uncovered. remember, not many UK women have shoulder tattoos so i did stand out a bit in my little black dress (all hail the LBD) with clowns, wings and chinese glyphs all over my upper arms. phew!

we then moved to the restaurant.
i had no starter, the duck which was nice and chocolate brownie with ice cream for dessert.
the brownie was a bit too sickly, in fact i haven't tasted an English "American Fudge Brownie" yet that wasn't 200% too rich. i guess we just can't get them right.
all this was washed down with endless bottles of white wine and water.

Leah was given a lovely book of poetry, a memory book from all of us and a crown and wand, even though she claims she doesn't 'do' all the tacky hen night stuff, and we had great fun anointing each other with it.

after the coffee, some of us left to catch trains home and the rest of us went and found this little cafe on the concrete quad (which i swear was a Starbucks a couple of years ago) which had loud but strangely cool techno music pumping out, more white wine and a couple of free shots for all us women.
'all us women' being 8 of us.
it was nice cos we danced in this little cafe/club for the best part of an hour and a half (i think, i lost track of time as one does) and as it was so empty and the weather was holding ( a miracle right now i know) we managed to dance outside where we could dance and smoke without being hassled.
and cause a scene and spectators to look at us as they passed but i've never had problems with that on a night out. ;-)

finally the place closed at 1am.
so me and Roselba said drunken goodbyes and headed for the night bus to take us back to brixton.
i then crashed into bed about 2am and sleep, doze, read and muse until i finally got up at 1pm on the following day.

it was great!
unfortunately i paid for it on monday and yesterday and i'm now dead tired.
but i have tomorrow off too so here's hoping i can pick myself up for the weekend (when i working) and here's also hoping i can find this bloody software!

alcohol, friendship, london, dancing
