how life should be
i had a nice day today. a whole day of plastics with the same two members of the list crew gave us a great sense of order. order in a good way in the sense that we didn't have to faf around waiting for replacements or people to come on duty at 1am. the same 3 nurses working the same list from 9 til 5.
also it was with two very nice surgeons, who i get on really well with, treat me like an actual human being that knows things and is competent and we achieved a great deal.
not a particularly productive day but we managed to do 4 out of 6 cases on the list, including a split skin graft and a tricky finger fracture that required plating.
these are the days when you don't want to go for a tea break cos you'll miss the vibe that's going on in theatre and before you know it it's 4.30 and you only have 30 minutes left until going home time.
so, all in all, a really nice day.
