interesting developments

first of all i have to contact Charing Cross hospital admissions tomorrow during the hours of 9 and 5pm. i have no idea why.

second of all, why is it i get the top plastic consultant operating with me when things go wrong?

the diathermy didn't work.
[diathermy is like a soldering iron for skin, it's used to sear blood vessels shut when they're compromised as well as opening up fatty tissue in high-risk patients]
so i bring in another stack, running up from another theatre, swap the leads and the forceps and try again.
...
..
and that diathermy doesn't work either.

and the consultant doesn't yell or have a tantrum, he just puts down the forceps and continues with the op. but you can hear a pin drop in that operating theatre and i know that Mr. Lee (surgeon) is pissed.
and not in a good way.

and is this my fault? no. i am a scrub nurse, i am not an electrician. when i went for the job interview one of the questions was not "Can you run a detailed electrical diagnostic on all theatre equipment".
every morning i turn it on, check all the lights, bells and whistles work and leave it in a corner. I can't test a soldering iron on myself can i?
nope.
so there

:-p
