To Groom or Not to Groom

My little puppy Brewster is four months old today! And on Saturday he will go for his very first puppy haircut at the groomer! I found a cute place right around the corner from my apartment called Sandy's Doggie and Kitty Spa, which boasts a cage-free environment for the animals and gentle grooming procedures. But the shocking part is how much it costs for a basic puppy cut in the city...$65! (I guess I shouldn't be surprised anymore...I mean, it's New York City...everything is overpriced). Everywhere I called in the area had about the same price range for a very basic cut and bath, but Sandy's offered me 15% off for the first visit. I never imagined I would pay that much to have Brewster groomed (heck, I don't even spend that much on my own haircuts!), but I'm sure he will look awesome! His fur is really shaggy right now, and it's starting to get a little matted around the hind-legs. I've already given him a few baths and brushed him out really good, but his fur is just too long now. And at $65 a cut, I just may have to learn to groom him myself! ---devery
