sick!
just in time to go back to work, i'm doing the mucinex shuffle with my first cold of the season. blast. i think i used to be much better at being sick than i am now. i used to have a very strict regimen that i always adhered to: 3 days of warm liquids and bed rest, to be interrupted only by a casual romance with some book of fiction that i'd been meaning to read.
my reasoning for this was that in the end, the three days of undisturbed pampering took less time and made me more productive than two weeks of limping along with a snot rag and a hacking cough.
but alas, my life has changed. i have less time and, it seems, less patience for my body in illness. there is too much to do to lay about!
the problem is, my old reasoning is still sound. because i cannot give myself the time and care that would make me good as new in short order, i'll likely spend the next two weeks trying to recover my energy and my voice. but there's nothing for it. bills have got to be paid, appointments kept, puppys walked.
life's just chock-full of catch 22s, i guess.
on the plus side, i had a blast in vermont.
