this is one of the major reasons i haven't jumped on an e-reader. what if i'm off-grid a significant amount of time, camping or some such? i'll have to pack actual books or get a solar charger for the e-reader. this might actually come up if i decide to backpack a bit in September.
and i'd like to know why a Nexus and not a Kindle. :)
Not a Kindle partly for personal reasons (some of Amazon's business practices distress me) but mostly because I wanted to not be so tied to Kindle-format books.
On the Nexus, I have the both the Kindle and Nook apps installed, so I can buy books from either. Plus GooglePlay (so I can buy books from there), and the IndieBound app (so I can buy ebooks through the website of my local indie bookstore) and Overdrive (for library books and free epubs from Project Gutenberg). I wanted that flexibility. :-)
ahhh. i haven't looked into them a'tall; all i know is what clients tell me they bought. :) it's interesting (and a bit yucky) that Kindle is one proprietary format. good to know, though.
I am finding I need to charge mine every other day, but I've been using it for several hours a day, and not just for reading. I think (not positive) that WiFi connection burns through the power faster, so I might have longer usage with that off.
Hee! I actually took a picture with the UNNATURALISTS cover on the screen first, but the glare kept making it look wonky.
I read the first chapter already but forced myself to stop and save the rest for London. I am looking forward to reading about the Museum of Unnatural History -- our apartment is near the Museum of Natural History! :-)
