Well, week one of hub school was been paradise. Why? Because it allowed me to work more normal hours. That has had the benefit of allowing me to sleep for more normal nights.
The training itself has been interesting. I won't know how much good it does until I get back in the operation and actually put what I learn to use. If nothing else, I finally know what pd stands for. (beyond police department, I mean.)
Sabbath services went well. It was my first time leading songs since the Feast. Since I'm no longer on the sound crew, my name appears on the schedule fewer times, but I'm hoping that will free me up to play hymn accompanyment more often. Anyway, the song services went well, and the messages were good. The sermonette was on voting, and the sermon was on tithing.
After services, Kevin and I took my car to St. Augustine to hang out with the gang. After sunset, we took his car to the Lucas's for a hot dog roast and a hay ride. The food was not limited to hot dogs. There was chili, cole slaw, and a variety of deserts. We had fun on the hay ride, and at various points during the ride we started singing. Marcus took out his ATV, and I enjoyed taking that for a spin. I nearly lost my hat while riding it. At one point during the evening, I thought I lost my cell phone, but thankfully it just fell onto the ground. (I'd like to get one of those ultra thin cell phones, but I wasn't planning on it this week.)
I saw the flyer for Louisville. As I picked it up, I wondered why I was bothering since I can't take the time off to go. I considered going to part of it, but I'd have to leave straight out from work and that's not the kind of trip I want to make without a traveling companion. I'd need to be back on Monday, the 25th, and the whole thing would leave me exhausted. So, I'll have to sit it out again. In a way, I'm looking forward to the next few months as far as work goes. It's peak season, which essentially amounts to the UPS olympics. It's harder as far as the work goes, but there is a competitiveness that comes with it and that can be addictive. Plus, it'll be my first peak season as a supervisor so that'll be interesting. Just to give you a bit of trivia, at one point last year, the UPS hub in Jacksonville processed 1.3million packages in a single day.
