Jared waits for the laughter and the coos to fade away before he puts on a familiar smile, a curl to his lips that speak of joy and gratitude to Jensen. Their gazes lock and Jared looks back at the guests with a more wistful smile. "I still remember the first time I met Nicky. Jensen went up to me and plopped this pink blob into my arms and gave me what was probably the second greatest gift I've ever gotten; a godson."
Jared pauses, his smile unwavering.
"I also remember the day Kat came into our lives. I was an absolute wreck," he laughs, raising his glass as the guests laugh along. "The doctor handed her to me and I was so terrified about being a dad, about not dropping my baby girl and I was so lucky to have my best friend with me. Because Jensen saw this and he made a stupid joke, all, oh my god, she's not a giant! and I started laughing through my tears."
Jared's doing it again, now, and just like he did in the hospital that day, Jensen smiles at him and lets him know that they're in it together. Always.
