Are You Finding Everything Okay? 2/2surevestaDecember 10 2009, 04:12:36 UTC
“Top Ramen?” Jensen blinked up at him before glancing back down at the noodles. Oriental flavor. “I don't really like this-”
“Flavor doesn't matter, you aren't going to use it anyway,” Grabbing Jensen's hand, the guy led him down the isle and around. “I'm Jared by the way.”
“Jensen.”
“Nice to meet you Jensen,” Jared grinned down at him. That grin should be patented; it made Jensen's stomach do little buzzing flip flops. They walked past the next two isles and into the vegetable section.
“Jared I can't really-”
“You have enough money,” Letting go of him, Jared made his way over to the tomatoes, picking up a few. “Just take advantage of the sales and trust me.”
In the end Jensen had a cart full of tomatoes, a large Walla Walla sweet onion, three cucumbers, a head of napa lettuce, two green peppers, Top Ramen, and two gallons of milk. And Jared was right, there was enough money to take care of it. He even had enough to buy a large bag of the cheap off brand cheerios and two loafs of bread- which were on sale for fifty cents apiece.
Jared bagged groceries at the check out while Jensen went through, grabbing the bags with a grin and a wave to the cashier. The girl waved back, smiling sweetly. According to her name tag her name was Sandy and she'd been working there for two years. Jensen thanked her when she handed him the receipt.
“You don't have to do this,” Jensen pointed out as they headed to the door. “It's two bags and a couple of cartons of milk. Plus I'm taking the bus-”
“Dude, so am I,” Jared grinned, shrugging.
“What?”
“I got off work half an hour ago,” Jared looked over at him, a sheepish grin painting his features as they walked through the sliding doors leading outside.
“You,” Jensen paused, frowning. “Why did you help me?”
“Well, for one, I like to help people,” Jared quirked a grin at Jensen, turning to face him. There was a blush staining his features as he ducked his head a bit.“And second? You're hot, probably the hottest guy I've ever met. Why wouldn't I help you?”
It turns out Christmas on his own wasn't all that lonely. He had a Jared who happily cooked up some awesome stirfry with noodles and hung out with him whenever he had time off work. They drank some of Chris' stash of tequila and by the time his roommates came back from wherever they went for the holidays, Jensen had an awesome boyfriend and managed to sell some paintings. Apparently there was a last minute Christmas shopper at the gallery his work was displayed in.
Needless to say, Jensen ended up having a very merry Christmas.

Thanks so much for reading! I'm glad I could inspire :) *hugs*
--------------------- Okay, totally random but here's what Jared kinda cooked for Jensen (or what I was thinking of):
Of course it totally depends on what sales are going on where you shop... My roommate and I spend about sixty dollars together every two weeks but we buy more than I listed there. I also buy a bag of frozen broccoli and cauliflower. We buy the 5 dozen egg packs once a month (depending on use) since we go through so many... and have a huge bag of rice that lasts a month or more (costco ;). And we get chinese noodles in addition to top ramen (cause roommate is Chinese). We have a lot of seasonings that last a long time too.
When I make my own dinner I also save have for lunch or dinner the next day... basically I put some olive oil, soy sauce (or other sauce and seasoning ginger, salt, pepper etc), and water in a pan. Then I put in the onion (and celery if I have it), some of the frozen broccoli and cauliflower, I cut up a carrot, a few slices of the pepper, one hot dog or sliced chicken/turkey meat (ham tastes weird to me but roast beef is okay too), and a couple leaves of napa or romaine lettuce (cabbage works too if you like it... or anything green and leafy really). I add one tomato and about a fourth of a cucumber later, enough time to cook/heat it but not make the tomato entirely fall apart.
Doesn't really matter what type of veggies you use really... What we buy depends on sales.
You can either boil the noodles separately or in the fry pan if there is enough room. Or rice tastes just as well but cook it separately (having a rice cooker makes it easy!). After that I cook an egg or two scrambled or omelet style and put it on top. I usually drain most of the water, but not always.
It may not look pretty but it's pretty good. Or I can never make it look pretty. My roommate actually cooks similarly but somehow manages to make things look just as good as it is.

man that stuff sounds good. i usually just throw veggies and noodles together and boil... one way to make cheap noodle soups delicious, fry a cubed half a tomato (or a whole one) until it literally almost becomes pasty and add water, add ramen/Chinese noodle, add veggie. You can also pouch an egg in the soup.
