Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche

In a workbook for my second year German class, I just learned about the Kaiser-Wilhelm Memorial Church.

Apparently, it has earned the slang name "Puderdose und Lippenstift", which means compact and lipstick. I guess the World War II bombing and consequent addition have created an image that does bring that make-up terminology to mind.Just thought that I'd share.

ww2, 20th century history, churches, 2. weltkrieg, images, the east, berlin, raidodeux, sightseeing
