Last post for today, I don't want to spam your friends list ;) A wild collection of cars, pictures taken in different cities, just to give you an impression what's on our streets.
Nice car pics - thanks for sharing! I always try to figure out the plates city-wise when I am there, it's like a road game or something if I am passenger!
Yeah, I think the plates are very cool. Some people were thinking about maybe changing them, not containing the cities anymore - horrible! I think they've stopped thinking about it, but the mere thought ... it's so lovely to see where people come from, to guess what these letters mean or those ...
I saw a Jeep Cherokee when I was sitting at a restaurant in the Kurfürstendamm, and I went "O_o what?" It looked SO out of place. Everything else I saw was pugeot, citroen, or VW, etcetera, most of the cars pictured here. (didn't see a hummer, your pic made me do an even bigger O_O?!??!) I quite prefer all the German cars I saw.
The Hummer made me thing of when I lived overseas. I lived in a very American-filled area and you could almost always tell their cars. I even saw an American Airman with a brightly colored Hummer in our little town.
Not anymore, when we were just there if you had a car that could take euro plates you got euro plates with the Germany country code. No more USA country code plates. Just square plates if you have a U.S. spec car that wont take Euro plates.
They were white and red once, but nowadays the red has become some sort of very bright neon-orange, which makes them easier to recognise and spot in traffic. It's the most common colour combination. There are many different types of ambulances in the different cities, and some of them also have different colours, like beige/orange or even yellow/blue. When you search for "Rettungswagen" in Google Images, you get to see many different ambulances: http://images.google.com/images?client=safari&rls=de-de&q=Rettungswagen&oe=UTF-8&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi
Glad I wasn't the only one giggling at that one! ;)
And I totally ignored the Hummer (yes, there are two pics of it with one painted its name practically all over it - I'm blind!) but spotted the carriage instantly. Which might have been the purpose of the photo. Maybe I fail today. :D
Yeah, my sister an I loved our copy to death, it fell apart in the end! :) I think the book has its 40th anniversary this year-- several stores have their shelves decorated with it. I'm seriously considering getting a new one, maybe to "gift" it to my sister... ;)
