Agreed, Bremerhaven is not only ugly, but small too. I live in Bremen and you couldn't pay me to move there.

I did love Hamburg alot. Especially since it caters well to English speakers.

How long does it take from Kiel?

See the thing is I'm really concious of how much it costs to commute. When I studied previously, I had to go alot of times to schools further away from me and it can eat up money like mad. My last job also ate money up like mad for commuting.

If I would get a placement I'd get paid of course, but its the only money I'd probably get, because my studies and work placements would take all my time.

I've been to Hamburg and from that I know, if I'd be accepted there I'd live right in the city. The surrounding districts were really far away.
Haven't been to Stuttgart or Muenchen. Those would be the other two I'd really want to see.

What's cheaper Bremerhaven or Kiel? I'm deciding whether its more worth it study in Bremerhaven and always go to socialize in Bremen or Stay in Kiel and socialize there.

I was thinking Kiel, looking it up and it definatly looks more like what I think is better for me then Bremerhaven.
The advantage though Hamburg has is that they want someone with good english capabilities.
But Kiel looks really nice.

Funny you mention that with Munich, that one website I was given actually makes Munich cheaper then Hamburg? How that works I don't know.
What in your opinion makes the North better then the South?

Bremerhaven ist not that ugly.:( Sure, there are some really ugly parts of the city, but the harbor and the city center look quite nice now.
And the Hochschule is 10 times better than Uni Bremen. Smaller, more practical courses, less useless stuff that you never need again in your life. And the professor actually know you and care about you. Uni Bremen is terrible. (I studied in both places, so I know the difference.)

Would you suggest Bremerhaven for a young person then?

My thing is, I've havent lived in Germany before, this would be a my first time. I'd be looking for a place where it's fun to live for a young person, but not somewhere dangerous. A huge city with a huge crime rate and stuff.

Well, I like it, but I'm not much of a disco goer. I prefer private parties. Depends on your idea of "fun", really. There's not that much going on in Bremerhaven, but Bremen is near which has a more lively nightlife. And the sea is not far if you like that.
If you want a city where a lot is going on, you'll be better off in Hamburg or Berlin. But then again, you'll probably sit in a classroom with 500 people and never have a single private conversation with your professor. Also, I found that the larger the university (and the city), the harder it is to meet people.
About the crime rate: it depends where in the city you live. Ine every, there are parts that you should avoid and parts that are (more or less) safe.
What do you want to study, anyway?

I like disco's, but also just in the sense of being able to meet new people attend clubs or something.

See I'd love to go to Bremen. I've heard excellant things about the place and I do rather know a place where's it's easier to meet people, but I wouldn't want to live and study in a place where when I want to go to the city or something, I'll have to travel like miles all the time. It'd drive costs up all the time.

I'm going to study Midwifery (Hebamme) :) !
