**EDIT** Yes, I know a lot of you are already sold on this. I love you anyway.

I was talking with someone about how people who believe in global warming can be fanatical that they will pick up on a set of stats that they like and totally disregarding everything that contradicts it and that they will discredit or attempt to silence any opposing point of view.

They disagreed with me of course and said that people with open minds see global warming for what it is and it's the deniers that are closed minded.

Not 2 minutes later we were talking about the volcano that erupted in Peru this week. I mentioned how it was one of the ways that greenhouse gases are put into the environment naturally by billions of tons.

So a few minutes later this individual pulls up some report on how the amount of CO2 produced by volcanic activity is insignificant compared to man made sources.

At this point I start to hop on a computer to provide stats of my own...and am told the following.

"I just provided you with the stats. Humans = 30 billion tons a year. Volcanoes = 255 million tons a year, at most. It's alot more difficult to claim that we're not having a significant impact, unless you willingly choose to ignore every shred of evidence until you can cherry-pick your results and find some pseudoscientist to back up your preconcieved notions."

Wow, so much for being open minded and allowing ANYONE to even try to fact check or compare stats. Thanks for proving my first point.
