Have a heart?

Feb 11, 2009 08:47

So lets do some heart work eh? as we all know blood is pumped through the 4 chambers. Here are some lesser known facts. Between the Atria and ventricel of both left and right side of the heart are one way valves, the right is a tricuspid one way valve and the left is a bicuspid. These valves are held in place by what we call "chordi tendoni" which are little fibers of perfect length so that when the chamber is relaxed it is open to allow the pool from the atria to go into the ventricel, when it is pumping the tendons close the valve to prevent blood from spilling back up into the atria. The heart muscles are also the only muscles in the body which conduct an electricle signal. I will have more on that next week.
