(no subject)

My birthday was just under two months ago and I delayed reporting on it until now in the hopes that some well intended birthday wish was just running a little late.

For my birthday I threw a party that nobody came to. Seventy-five minutes was too far for anyone to drive. Those I'd asked to come refused to make the trip. I doubt it was the decadent towers of Babylon that kept them away.

Those whom I did not ask to come nor even reminded of the occasion, whom I had assumed, or hoped beyond reason, would recall the date and give, at the least a greeting after their fashion, gave no such thing.

Those few who did mark the occasion and wished well tidings did so only, I think, because their myspace accounts had reminded them to.

There is not enough dirt nor mud to crawl through on the way to you that would make my outside look as blackened, soiled, offensive as my inside. May the full moon grin at your misfortune and the weight of wronged souls pull at your wrists and ankles after their demise so that you may be forever burdened by your sins.

As the hour grows later, the world grows only ever madder. We fear flour on pavement and blinking lights where they don't belong and yet when several billions of dollars turn literally missing in a foreign desert, nobody considers where it went and least of all why it was there to begin with. We have freely chosen the path to our doom. By democratic consent we have given to a pack of hell's spawn heaven's mandate.

Until the traitor is out of office, I say this. Sleep with one eye open, keep your back against the wall, and don't think anything different than you hear on TV. I would be terrified but not in the slightest surprised if legislation was passed to prolong the Bush administration's control over this state.
